NBPA Foundation announces $50,000 for youth sports programming in the Chicago area

CHICAGO, IL (February 11, 2020) -  To support access to sports for all young people, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Foundation is pleased to announce with the help of 2020 NBA All-Star and Chicago native Anthony Davis a grant of $50,000 towards K-12 sports-related programming in Chicago schools. Working with DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that helps individuals donate directly to public school classrooms, the NBPA Foundation will hand-select project ideas submitted by local educators and teachers that focus on sports and physical activity.

Teachers can learn more about funding criteria, post multiple projects and check their eligibility for this funding offer at www.donorschoose.org/NBPAFChicago2020. The deadline to submit project ideas will be Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and the selected projects will be announced through March 2020 on the NBPA Foundation’s partner page.

The NBPA Foundation hopes that this investment will support local educators who are looking for creative ways to leverage all the positive aspects of sports and play to improve outcomes for students across the city.
— Sherrie Deans, NBPA Foundation Executive Director
We are so grateful for the NBPA Foundation’s support of Chicago teachers and students. Their contribution will continue to inspire a love of sports, wellness and leadership for so many students on and off the field.
