Flint Nutrition Backpacks

NBPA Foundation provided funding to the Pediatric Public Health Initiative of the University of Michigan’s Hurley Children Hospital to distribute 8,000 “nutrition backpacks” to Flint public school children in grades K-6.  Each bag contained $15.00 worth of gift certificates redeemable at the Flint Farmers Market, information about healthy eating, nutrition and lead, and a mini basketball.  The Foundation was joined in this effort by FlintNOW, which provided matching gift certificates for each one redeemed, as well as help in launching and publicizing the program.
